john marshall was a supreme court justice. he worked to reinforce nationalism. his ruling in the court oftern showed his personal view of the consituiton and his ideas about a strong central government. his decisions acknowledged the idea of judicial limiation on legislative powers and made supreme court a vital part of americas system of governtment.
